Plot[]

It is springtime in Townsville and love is in the air. One student at Pokey Oaks Kindergarten, Tommy, has become lovestruck by Buttercup. Tommy goes to Ms. Keane for advice on how to explain his feelings to a girl. Ms. Keane tells him most girls like poems, flowers, and chocolates. The Narrator then says "Buttercup is not like most girls!" During recess, Tommy goes up to Buttercup with flowers and chocolate and tells her he loves her. He then kisses Buttercup on the cheek, and Buttercup reacts in disgust and knocks out Tommy into a sandbox. Blossom and Bubbles see this and say Buttercup wasn't acting nice. Buttercup declares herself a loner and a rebel and that love is yucky, much to the distraught of her sisters.

Anti-love-ray-in-use

Tommy uses the anti-love ray.

Tommy eventually gets up and cries over Buttercup rejecting her. He yells out he hates love, and then HIM suddenly appears. HIM says he is here to help Tommy with love. Tommy says love stinks, and HIM agrees and says he has a plan to get rid of love and The Powerpuff Girls. HIM says he can give Tommy the power to do it, and Tommy agrees. HIM gives Tommy a belt with a Anti-Love Ray, which will drain all the love out anyone it hits. Tommy asks where the love will go, and HIM shows him a special crystal ball it will go in, so it can never escape. Tommy tries the Anti-Love Ray on a happy couple, causing them to argue with each other. He is satisfied with the result and begins an anti-love rampage, attacking a man walking his two dogs, a boy eating ice cream, and others. HIM watches in delight as the crystal ball starts to fill up.

Back at the Utonium Residence, Blossom picks up the Powerpuff Hotline. The Mayor tells her about the Anti-Love Ray and she says they are on their way. She tells her sisters all the love is being sucked out of Townsville, only for Buttercup to say she doesn't care. Blossom tells her to stop talking like that and they have a job to do. They fly to the scene, where Tommy is zapping more people. Bubbles recognizes Tommy and Buttercup calls him a loser. Blossom tells Tommy to stop, and Tommy says he hates love and The Powerpuff Girls. Bubbles says no one can hate love and the girls get ready to fight. Tommy says he will take away their love and make them hate each other. He shoots at Blossom, but misses and hits a building. Buttercup calls him pathetic and Tommy then gets a hit on Bubbles, causing her to crash into the ground.

Lovealwayswins

Blossom and Buttercup revive Bubbles.

Blossom and Buttercup go to Bubbles, and Blossom says Bubbles was so full of love it completely knocked her out when it was taken away. Tommy becomes scared, thinking the ray would only take her love. He immediately regrets it and worries she won't wake up. Buttercup asks what they can do to help, and Blossom says they need to share their love Bubbles by saying they love her to wake her up. Buttercup is hesitant, but Blossom says they have to do it. They hold Bubbles' hands and, with some difficulty from Buttercup, they say they love her. Bubbles wakes up, saying thanks and that she loves them too. Meanwhile, HIM says The Powerpuff Girls have more love than the crystal ball can handle, causing it to explode. The love stolen from everyone returns to them. Defeated, HIM says he will get The Powerpuff Girls next time.

Tommy apologizes for what he did and says he didn't mean to hurt anyone. He says just Buttercup hurt him doesn't give him the right to terrorize Townsville. He then tells Buttercup he was impressed by seeing a sensitive side to her and what she did for Bubbles was wonderful. Buttercup shrugs it off, but Tommy kisses her again anyway. Buttercup again is disgusted by it and hits Tommy. The Narrator declares the day saved and wonders if Buttercup will learn to "let them down gently?"
