DC The Powerpuff Girls Issue 1 is the first ever issue of the The Powerpuff Girls comic series published by DC Comics. It was published on May 1st, 2000 and licensed by Cartoon Network.
Synopsis[]
- Bubbles uses Chemical X to bring an injured squirrel back to health. Will the girls have a new sidekick, or will they be..."By Twitchy Betrayed"?

Plot[]
The Narrator speaks over peaceful scenes of Townsville, before cutting to The Powerpuff Girls facing off against Mojo Jojo. Jojo gloats at the girls as he shoots at them with his Power Ray. Blossom tells the girls the plan and she and Bubbles distract Jojo while Buttercup grabs a tree to hit Jojo with. Before Buttercup swings, Bubbles sees a squirrel in the tree and tells Buttercup to stop. It's too late, however, and Buttercup defeats Jojo by waking him with the tree, causing the squirrel to fall out into a pond. Horrified, Bubbles flies into the pond to save the animal. Blossom yells at Buttercup for forgetting to follow The Professor's instructions to not hurt civilians. Buttercup defends herself by saying the squirrel shouldn't have been in the tree.
Bubbles flies out of the pond with the squirrel in her arms. She talks to the squirrel using her language powers, much to Buttercup's dismay. Bubbles tells Blossom the squirrel's name is Twitchy and he has bronchitis, whiplash, and no where to stay. The girls head back home and the Professor asks them about their day. Blossom tells the Professor Buttercup innocent innocent civilians again, while Buttercup says she was just saving the day from Mojo Jojo and only a squirrel got hurt. Bubbles asks the Professor if Twitchy can stay with them so he can recover. The Professor lets him stay, and Bubbles takes care of him by making a bed out of a shoebox.
The Powerpuff Girls fly with Twitchy to save the day
Blossom insists on Bubbles coming to bed, but Bubbles is too worried about Twitchy to sleep. After Blossom says worrying won't help, Bubbles gets the idea to feed Twitchy some Chemical X. The next morning, The girls wake up to a giant statue of Bubbles created by Twitchy made entirely of acorns. Bubbles hugs Twitchy, while Blossom shows concern for her giving the squirrel Chemical X. Buttercup asks Bubbles if Twitchy can do any more tricks, like talk. Bubbles asks Twitchy to speak, causing him to release a sonic boom, which knocks the girls away and ruins the acorn statue. The girls then go outside and play fetch with Twitchy with a football, which Twitchy catches in his cheeks, much to the girls disgust. Bubbles and Buttercup ask Blossom if Twitchy can be their sidekick. Blossom agrees as long as he uses his powers for good. They then play with Twitchy but beating meat cuts, shooting cans, and lifting weights.
Later, the girls get a call on the Hotline and fly to Townsville with Twitchy, who now sports a red cape. Together they fight a green, cyclops, tentacle monster. After the monster grabs Blossom and Buttercup, Bubbles tells Twitchy to use his sonic squirrel bark, which frees the other two girls. Bubbles then tells Twitchy to do a cheek sneak, which is bubbles getting into Twitchy's cheeks and him spitting her out. The force of which causes her to fly right through the monster's head. After defeating the monster, the heroes are presented at Townsville Hall by The Mayor to thank them for saving the city. The girls pose for a photo, but the flash of the cameras causes Twitchy to lash out with a sonic bark and putting The Mayor in his cheeks. Ms. Bellum and the Professor look on in horror as the girls fly to stop Twitchy.
Twitchy returns to nature
Twitchy is found by the girls back at their home and they plead for him to spit out The Mayor. Bubbles tells Twitchy to do a cannonball and he spits out The Mayor into a tree. Ms. Bellum catches The Mayor in her arms. Bubbles ask why Twitchy was acting so bad. The Professor explains Twitchy is a wild animal that wasn't meant to live among humans. They return Twitchy to the park where they found him, but the girls are worried if he can live on his own. Just then, a hawk attacks another squirrel in the park and Twitchy defeats it to the cheer of the other squirrels. The girls look on happily while The Professor says he will be just fine. The Narrator ends saying "And so, the day is saved. Thanks to Twitchy, the Powerpuff squirrel!"
